First Knitted Objects of the New Year

I got to fly to visit my parents for a few days, and basically the flights and airport-waiting time were spent just knitting. So, here are my first FO's of 2008:

The above 2 photos are of the Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf by Karen Baumer, made in some previously knit-and-frogged Noro Silk Garden. I used 3 balls, and I wish I would have had 4. As it is, it's about 6 1/2" wide and 59" long, so a nice size, but I prefer longer scarves usually. I used size 7 US needles. This is a fun and sort of mindless pattern to knit, once you get it memorized. Definitely a good TV and Movie-watching project.

And here is one Monkey sock:

I used Lonesome Stone Mountain Feat yarn, and it is very soft and yummy. I'm nervous that those bright colors will run though. More details on those when they are all done.

I knit the toe and grafted it on my return flight. I think the man next to me was a little nervous about the sewing needle and the turbulence, but he was a good sport.

They both look great. Noro is perfect for multi-directional scarves!

Oooh, I love how the Noro worked up! That's a great-looking scarf, I may have to make one of those.

The Monkey came out amazingly well too, I hope the colors stay bright and happy and don't run.
