A Little Vacation, Some Hats, and Souvenir Yarn

My family and I just spent the weekend in Denver for a little family-time getaway. We went on a tour of the US Mint and learned about how coins are made, and the kids got very excited about the new Presidential One-Dollar coins. We also went to the Science Museum there and we all had a wonderful time.

This is DH and I on the Sky Terrace which overlooks the Denver City Park and the Downtown skyline.

While we were hanging out watching movies in our hotel for two evenings, and riding 7 hours each way in the car, I actually finished some small projects which I rescued out of the UFO pile.

This is the Child's Cotton Hat, in the infant size, from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I used the Mission Falls Cotton it called for, in Ivory, and to be different, (and since I really hate making I-cord), I used a pink ribbon. This is a gift for a co-worker who is expecting.

This is the He Gives Me Butterflies Hat. (Here, I would like to add that Kody May, who designed this hat, could make money selling her wonderful hat patterns, and she is very generous to share them with us for free!) I had a stray ball of Soy Wool Stripes in my stash that was crying out to be made into something, so here it is. Some of the butterflies came out a little wonky, but I learned a new stitch pattern, and my daughter adores this hat.

Here is my son's Basic Ribbed Cap, from One Skein Wonders. It is made from Bernat Camouflage, which came out more stripey than camouflage, in my opinion, but he loves it just the same.

And this is all of my new souvenir yarn, purchased at The Lamb Shoppe.....
My new Lamb's Pride worsted.
All green yarn was on sale, a St Patrick's day surprise!

Some lovely hand-dyed Andean wool.
I think it wants to be a Cozy

I also bought some Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Mountain Twilight, but it didn't turn out to be very photogenic! Lovely yarn, though.

Your knitting looks very pretty and darling, I like how the He Gives Me Butterflies Hat came out. About Kody May, you are so right. She could be making tons of money selling her patterns. God bless her and her talented hands. I tried to take a peak at your other knitting projects but couldn't access.
